Those that want to make sure they get the most Renown progress carried over from the base game to Season 1 and future seasons will want to make sure they log in with their character that has the most progress first. Others have been unsure about what exactly carries over in each season. While some don't like this approach, this is in line with previous Diablo games and is also how most other games in the genre work.
